18 year old South African DJ/producer extraordinaire, Culoe de Song is steadily becoming a prominent DJ on the underground dance music scene in Europe. The Durban native releases his much-waited EP on Japanese record label Mule Musiq on September 28.

Titled ‘The Fallen Shiren’ the EP is anticipated to offer Culoe de Song (real name Culolethu Zulu) much needed leverage to tap into Asian markets, rated amongst the fastest growing music markets in the world.  The title track is probably the best on the installment and is already receiving rave previews online.

This time Culoe offers a modernized sound, with an emotional deep house feel, incorporating his usual piano riffs with haunting African instruments and chorus.

Listen to his Sonar set below.

Owing to his resounding debut appearance at Red Bull Music Academy 2008 in Barcelona , Culoe who is Black Coffee’s protégé has over the past two years gigged across Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Holland, building an exponentially expanding fan base both oversees and locally. In June this year, he left his footprint at the iconic Sonar music festival in Barcelona, one of the world’s biggest electronic and dance music festival held over three days.

He is currently signed to Innervisions (Germany), one of the biggest house music labels in the world which also houses renowned international acts such as Henkrik Schwarz, Ame and Dixon.

Locally, he is signed to Black Coffee’s Soulistic Music.

Drawing inspiration from deep house and afrobeat alike, Culoe has so far released two notable tracks on Innervisions; “Bright Forrest” and “African Subway” which are currently making waves on the European club circuit. He looks set to up his game this summer.
