Controversial South African "zef-rap" crew Die Antwoord, have signed to  Interscope Records - an American record label renowned for platinum-selling artists such as Dr Dre, Game, Eminem and 50 cent .

The Cape Town -based  band flew to Los Angels, US last week and signed the historical deal with Interscope chairman, Jimmy Iovine.

Die Antwoord, consisting of Ninja, Yo-landi Visser and DJ Hi-Tek, shot to global fame when their music video "Enter the Ninja" became a worldwide hit on the internet,  garnering over 2 million hits on You Tube.

Their  forthcoming debut album $O$, streaming for free on their website , is the first of 5 albums they plan to release. Ninja, whose real name is Waddy Jones, says they are also working on a  documentary film.

"It's like an hour-long introduction to a music video, like Thriller, only you can eat popcorn while you watch it at the cinema," he says.

District 9's Neill Blomkamp will direct  the band's next music video, according to Ninja.

huge Die Antwoord fan. This is great news. AS LONG AS interscope doesn\'t try and meddle. If they meddle, they\'ll destroy it. Jimmy, just let them do their thing please.
