Local acoustic musician, Farryl Purkiss, has been invited to perform with the multi-platinum, award-winning British artist, Finley Quaye, on his upcoming South African tour.

When Finley Quaye burst onto the British music scene in 1997 his debut album, “Maverick A Strike”, quickly established him as one of the few truly innovative artists around. He won the Mobo Award for Best Reggae act in 1997 and the BRIT Award for Best British Male Solo Artist in 1998. In 1997 he reached the UK Top 20 twice with "Sunday Shining", and "Even After All". “Maverick A Strike” went gold less than three weeks after its release and is now multi platinum.

Quaye is currently working on a new album with A Guy Called Gerald & The Stereo MCs.

Saw the gig in Cape Town - he was a COMPLETE disappointment!!! He was so so wasted that our local musicians had to carry the performance - they did a great job - despite the fact that he didn\'t interact with the audience, could bearly stand - he did manage to vainly pear into the camera once or twice! There was a constant chatter in the audience - not a good gig at ALL!!!
