Lesser-known Pretoria rock band Mrs B recently released a new album titled The Milkshake Revolution. Loaded with 13 melodic rock cuts, the well-rounded offering looks set to make its mark on the local music scene.

The group, which was formed in 2006, now has three albums under its belt and The Milkshake Revolution is undoubtedly the best of them all.

Most of the tracks on this album were written by Mozambique-born singer Pedro Barbosa, who showcases admirable  musicianship qualities on the independently-released offering. His engaging, versatile voice works well whether he’s feeling moody, vulnerable, or aggressive.

One of the most enjoyable, and possibly the best track on the entire album is “Your girlfriend”- a precious song that sees the lead singer bragging about his affair with a beautiful girl. Clocking in at about four minutes, the up-tempo song shows off what the band is cable of. It is professionally done from start to end, and the band delivers very catchy lines throughout the song.

Keeping it sweet and melodic, Mrs B crafts another cool song titled ‘Here we go”. This one is very emotional and also qualifies to be one of the strongest tracks on the album. The album continues with a series of cool songs, from hard rock numbers to radio-friendly tunes (“Where we going” and “In a jar”). Other enjoyable tracks include, “Fiji” and “One man show”.

Overall, a cool album from a band that looks determined to be at the top of the local music game.
