There is nothing that brightens my universe more than getting connected to a well crafted project. The Mothiba twins fall under my list of those few local producers that I respect. It’s about the musical touch, having a clear picture of what one is doing and taking enough time to perfect each song. George and Joseph have always managed to convince me that their music will always have that QUALITY stamp.

The twins have put a ‘Fusion’ of sounds into their latest offering. Not moving away from what they are famously known for, the boys have featured some of the artists they worked with during their humble beginnings. On this new release, Jay, the Gospel artist is back again. Not to even mention Ntseka who has appeared quite a number of times on the duo’s past releases. There is however a guest appearance by Shandukani Madima who offers Venda poetry in motion.  Shandukani is a brother to Maduvha Madima – a songstress who has been working with Revolution for years.

On the very same album, the Mothiba boys also feature their old friend who is well known for his mesmerizing poetry, Antonio Lyons. More over, there are other artists such as Daddy, Cherilyn, Jimmy Dludlu and Ntumi. As they always do, those who love Gospel House will get their emotions soaked in the song, ‘Ha Ke Ratwa Le Nna’.

Though the album was dropped late last year, it has thus far received a fair amount of support from the hardcore fans of the duo. Looking deep into the album, almost all the songs rock but the only problem that seems to be threatening this release’s success is the way it seems as if there is not one hit song. I am talking about a song that people can easily sing along to and spread the word around.

Recently I’ve realized that for any artist to make it there should be at least one sing along song that people can quickly pay attention to. Even though ‘Fusion’ seems to be a super well packaged project, the vibe that people are looking for is not entirely represented here, I believe.

The songs, ‘Paradise’, ‘I Wish’, ‘We Belong Together’ and ‘Life Is Full of Love’ represents the title of the album. Unlike Revolution, these songs in particular have a new sound and feel that wasn’t present in the duo’s previous projects. For those who are down for good music, this album is likely to keep your legs busy.

It’s about having a true fan-base that will stand by your side all the time. It is important to have a good reputation with your fans because they are the ones who will support the brand even when the project is not getting convincing airplay.

However, it shouldn’t only be about having true supporters, as an artist you need to go all out and do your homework. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether you are a world star; a good album is always what will make people trust your capability. And the duo Revolution have all these years managed to keep their fans satisfied and provided them with good music!
