After days of intense deliberation, judges in the inaugural MTN Radio Awards have finally made their choice and South Africa's radio station of the year will be announced at a prestigious function in Johannesburg on Saturday, May 15.

The awards will also recognise the best breakfast show; best business show; best newsreader, best producer and the MTN Listener's Choice. Special awards include: best station on-air promotion and the young radio achiever of the year.

In addition, 20 inductees to the MTN Radio Hall of Fame will be announced. The list will include veteran sports commentator Charles Fortune and former YFM DJ Fana Khaba who died six years ago.

Project Director Jeremy Maggs says: “We're thrilled at the massive response to these awards in year one and this is a clear indication the event will grow in stature and prestige in coming years. The May 15 event will be a major gathering of the country's radio talent, all of whom are committed to growing this powerful medium and nurturing new talent.”

In total there are 18 categories in the awards.
