Cape Town’s most exciting indie band, The Dirty Skirts , have just confirmed an record deal signing with major label, Sony BMG, on the strength of their second full-length album 'Dady don't go disco.'

The band has grown from a small, edgy indie band into one of the countries slickest and most established alternative acts in the 4 years they have been on the live music circuit. Their success is attributed to their aggressive on-the-ground marketing campaigns, immense attention to detail and, of course, a great sound mixed with style and cutting-edge song writing.

The album 'Dady don't go disco' is scheduled for release in South Africa on the 23rd June 2008, and has already spawned the explosive hit can't remember your name, currently being play-listed across a wide variety of radio stations.

The album was produced by the Springbok Nude Girls’ guitarist, and much sought-after producer, Theo Crous.  Known for always being one step ahead of current trends, the band has consistently managed to promote themselves in the mainstream music market without compromising their personal integrity as an indie band.

'Dady don't go disco' is undoubtedly one of the most progressive records to emerge from South Africa in some time and it was the forward thinking of the staff at Sony BMG that managed to seal a deal with a band that is so notoriously independent in their approach.

The band is excited to be taking the major label route Having proved to the country they are major contenders in the field, they are now ready to take their place amongst the impressive local Sony BMG roster.

Lead singer Jeremy de Tolly had this to say, “So far The Dirty Skirts have been a fiercely independent band, but with Sony BMG we found the right partnership at the right time.  They have accommodated our entrepreneurial, independent spirits in the structure of the deal.  It’s great to be knuckling down with the highly motivated, highly skilled folks at Sony BMG.”

Fans of the Dirty Skirts will not be disappointed by the new album, currently being cited as the band’s strongest work to date, and with the signing of this deal the album will be more readily available in music outlets across the country.

'Dady don't go disco' will also be available for download from the 19th June, pre-empting the physical release on the 23rd June.  The album will be available from www.sonybmgdigital/dirtyskirts

The Dirty Skirts will officially be launching their record on the following dates:

20th June – Alexander Theatre, Braamfontein

11th July – The Assembly, Cape Town
