Haey so i heard this song. Eric Prydz - Call On Me, i'm sure you've seen the video
phwar (haha) any hows. theres this great sub part, like a sub melody. i was wondering if any one knows how to get that kinda sound, its just really good. is there a vsti thats renound for it? Its amazing like a drum and bass sound on a house track. And also in drum and bass tracks theres that woffer bubbling sound the wowowowowowowo, that geats higher and higher then back to wowowowowowo. i've always been fathomed as to how those a created?? Its quite a predominate sound in Hitaris - space invader , but in that track its not so much as bassy. Yeah so thought it would be a good topic, ppl preferances for bass melodies etc, tips and techniques |

Hey chrisius...
Excellent suggestion... !!! Maybe you could upload a small snippet into our upload and expose section and ill link it just so we can hear what you are on about ... lol Sounds to me like a sub bass thru a resonant filter with the LFO on the cut-off filter set at 2/4...and then some distortion to give it that edge higher up when you raise the cut-off ... Upload the piece so we can be sure As for VSTi's, I know that jungilist is pretty much aimed in that direction but I have never tried it ... there should be a demo somewhere on the net |

Howzit C…
If this is the track I'm thinking of with the great 80s call on me sample… then I think there is no bass in that track well that is to say the bass is actually playing back as part of the sample, and then its just some nice analog style filters which make it sound beefy… again if this is the mix I'm thinking of the main effect is compression that gives it that pumping effect… it’s a classic example of keying the bass with kick, in this case he is keying the whole sample with the kick which makes it pump like that … the same effect is used on most of Thomas Bangalters solo stuff like 'so much love' and 'music sounds better with you' Umm I would be hesitant to say you should upload a sample of this stuff to mio… its not legal… yeah I know I'm probably being way over cautious, but the fact remains you will be posting copyright material to the site… and if found out, could get the admins in a lot of trouble… rather host the sample somewhere on your own webspace or post a link to somewhere we can listen to it… Cheers, Z. |

If it's the one i'm thinking of, I'd go with the LFO's...
I wonder if we could chance posting just the sample of the section for educational purposes? |

yeah i'm sure it should be fine....
I mean its not like we are selling the sample to anyone....we are just tearing it apart into itsy bitsy little pieces and analysing how it was made is all....i'm sure they wont mind lol QUOTE If this is the track I'm thinking of with the great 80s call on me sample That would be Phil Collins |

umm.. I think the sample is actually from Steve Winwood's 'Valerie' ... anyhoo .. I was under the impression that Thomas bangalter orginally did this bootleg, but I may be wrong... I have had a copy of this track for a while now and only recently did the Eric Prydz version come out... my version is every so slightly different... I must google this to find out more....

i'm not sure but i think - Eric Prydz is another guise for falcon and bangalter
Aah so they key the bass with the kick, i thought it was jus really heavy compressed track which was then just taken back and then layered with a non compressed track compramissing of just a heavy kick. how would you key the it all with the kick? Its quite rare to find producers with a such a distinctive style, so distinctive that it was my little brother who should me this song as, the same ppl who did so much love, and he hasn;t got a clue about music i got SO MUCH LOVE to CALL ON them (mmmm i feel a mash up coming on) haha i'll cut up a 2-4 sec snippet and post it Cheers |

I'm really interested to find out who did this remix first... Thomas and flac or this Eric Prydz dude.. who is Eric Prydz anyway? Yes this heavy compression effect is IMO trademark of Thomas B, but its getting used more and more these days... thats what made me think that it was originally a thomas and Flac track, that and I've seen it credited to them long before I heard the name Eric Prydz... still, I dunno anymore..? those 2 tracks would make an intersting mash up... however I suggest rather using this effect in your own original way... z |
